Title:  Now One Man was There

The text is, “ἦν δέ τις ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖ τριάκοντα [καὶ] ὀκτὼ ἔτη ἔχων ἐν τῇ ἀσθενείᾳ αὐτοῦ”.

“ἦν”:  third person, singular, imperfect, indicative verb meaning “was”.

“δέ”:  coordinating conjunction meaning “now”.

“τις”:  masculine, singular, nominative, indefinite pronoun meaning “one”.

“ἄνθρωπος”:  masculine, singular, nominative noun meaning “man”.

“ἐκεῖ”:  adverb of place meaning “there”.

“τριάκοντα”:  neuter, plural, accusative, cardinal adjective meaning “thirty”.

“καὶ”:  coordinating conjunction meaning “and”.

“ὀκτὼ”:  neuter, plural, accusative, cardinal adjective meaning “eight”.

“ἔτη”:  neuter, plural, accusative noun meaning “years”.

The meaning of this verse is,

Now, one man was there, having been in the sickness thirty and eight years himself.”
