Title:  Therefore Some From Jerusalem Were Saying

The text is, “Ἔλεγον οὖν τινες ἐκ τῶν Ἱεροσολυμιτῶν· οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὃν ζητοῦσιν ἀποκτεῖναι”.

“Ἔλεγον”:  third person, plural, imperfect, active, indicative verb meaning “were saying”.

“οὖν”:  coordinating inferential conjunction meaning “therefore”.

“τινες”:  masculine, plural, nominative, indefinite pronoun meaning “some”.

“ἐκ”:  preposition taking the genitive for its object word and meaning “from” or “of”.

“τῶν”:  masculine, singular, genitive article meaning “the” but it is not rendered into English here.

“Ἱεροσολυμιτῶν”:  masculine, singular, genitive noun meaning “Jerusalem”.

“οὐχ”:  negative particle meaning “not”.

“ἀποκτεῖναι”:  aorist, active, infinitive verb meaning “to kill”.

The meaning of this verse is,

Therefore some from Jerusalem were saying, “Is this not the fellow they are seeking to kill?”
