ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ ἄμπελος, ὑμεῖς τὰ κλήματα (John 15:5)

Title:  I Am the Vine, You the Branches,

The text is, “ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ ἄμπελος ὑμεῖς τὰ κλήματα ὁ μένων ἐν ἐμοὶ κἀγὼ ἐν αὐτῷ οὗτος φέρει καρπὸν πολύν ὅτι χωρὶς ἐμοῦ οὐ δύνασθε ποιεῖν οὐδέν”.

ἐγώ -> first person, personal, singular, nominative pronoun -> I

εἰμι -> first person, singular, present, indicative verb -> am

ἡ -> feminine, singular, nominative article -> the

ἄμπελος -> feminine, singular, nominative noun -> vine

ὑμεῖς->  second person, personal, plural, nominative pronoun -> you

τὰ -> neuter, plural, nominative article -> the

κλήματα -> neuter, plural, nominative noun -> branches

ὁ -> masculine, singular, nominative article -> the

μένων -> present, active, participial, masculine, singular, nominative verb -> one ( abiding | continuing | remaining )

ἐν -> preposition taking the dative for its object word -> in

ἐμοὶ -> first person, personal, singular, dative pronoun -> me

κἀγὼ -> crasis of “καὶ” (coordinating conjunction)  and “‘έγω” (first person, personal, singular, nominative pronoun) -> and I

ἐν -> preposition taking the dative for its object word -> in

αὐτῷ -> third person, personal, masculine, singular, dative pronoun -> him

οὗτος -> masculine, singular, nominative, demonstrative pronoun -> this one

φέρει -> third person, singular,present, active, indicative verb -> bears

καρπὸν -> masculine, singular, accusative noun -> fruit

πολύν -> masculine, singular, accusative adjective -> much

ὅτι -> subordinating purposive conjunction -> because

χωρὶς -> improper preposition taking the genitive for its object word -> apart

ποιεῖν -> present, active, infinitive verb -> to do

The meaning of this verse is,

I am the vine, you the branches.  The one abiding in me, and I in him, this one bears much fruit, because apart from me, you are able to do nothing.”
