Τεκνία μου, ταῦτα γράφω ὑμῖν ἵνα μὴ ἁμάρτητε (I John 2:1)

Title:  My Dear Children, I Write These Thing to You so that You Might Not Sin

The text is, “Τεκνία μου, ταῦτα γράφω ὑμῖν ἵνα μὴ ἁμάρτητε καὶ ἐάν τις ἁμάρτῃ παράκλητον ἔχομεν πρὸς τὸν πατέρα Ἰησοῦν Χριστὸν δίκαιον”.

Τεκνία -> neuter, plural, vocative noun -> dear children

μου -> first person, personal, singular, genitive pronoun -> my

ταῦτα -> neuter, plural, accusative, demonstrative pronoun -> these things

γράφω -> first person, singular, present, active, indicative verb -> I write

ὑμῖν -> second person, personal, plural, dative pronoun -> to you

ἵνα -> subordinating purposive conjunction -> so that

μὴ -> negative particle -> not

ἁμάρτητε -> second person, plural, aorist, active, subjunctive verb -> you might sin

καὶ -> coordinating adversative conjunction -> but

ἐάν -> subordinating conditional conjunction -> if

τις -> masculine, singular, nominative, indefinite pronoun -> anyone

ἁμάρτῃ -> third person, singular, aorist, active, subjunctive verb -> should sin

παράκλητον -> third person, singular, accusative noun -> helper | advocate

δίκαιον -> masculine, singular, accusative adjective -> righteous | just | fair

The meaning of this verse is,

My dear children, I write these things to you so that you might not sin.  But if anyone should sin, we have a Helper with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.
