Title:  The Man, Being Sick, Answered Him

The text is, “ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ὁ ἀσθενῶν· κύριε, ἄνθρωπον οὐκ ἔχω ἵνα ὅταν ταραχθῇ τὸ ὕδωρ βάλῃ με εἰς τὴν κολυμβήθραν· ἐν ᾧ δὲ ἔρχομαι ἐγώ, ἄλλος πρὸ ἐμοῦ καταβαίνει”.

ἀπεκρίθη -> third person, singular, aorist, passive, indicative verb -> he answered

αὐτῷ -> third person, personal, masculine, singular, dative pronoun -> him

ὁ -> masculine, singular, nominative article -> the

ἀσθενῶν -> present, active, participial, masculine, singular, nominative verb -> man being sick

κύριε -> masculine, singular, vocative noun -> Lord or sir

ἄνθρωπον -> masculine, singular, accusative noun -> man or one

The meaning of this verse is,

The man being sick answered him ‘Sir, I have no man so that whenever the water has been stirred, he might put me into the pool; but while I am going in another goes down in front of me.”
