Title:  John Answered and Said

Ἀπεκρίθη Ἰωάννης καὶ εἶπεν· οὐ δύναται ἄνθρωπος λαμβάνειν οὐδὲ ἓν ἐὰν μὴ ᾖ δεδομένον αὐτῷ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ

“Ἀπεκρίθη”:  third person, masculine, singular, aorist, passive, indicative verb meaning “answered”.

“Ἰωάννης”:  masculine, singular, nominative, proper noun meaning “John”.

“καὶ”:  coordinating conjunction meaning “and”.

“εἶπεν”:  third person, singular, aorist, active, indicative verb meaning “said”.

“οὐ”  negative particle meaning “not”.

“δύναται”:  third person, present, passive, indicative verb meaning “is able”.

“ἄνθρωπος”:  masculine, singular, nominative noun meaning “man”.

“λαμβάνειν”:  present, active, infinitive verb meaning “to receive”.

“οὐδὲ”:  adverb meaning “even”.

The meaning of this verse is, “John answered and said, ‘Man is not able to receive even one unless it is being given to him from heaven.'”
