Title:  For Just as the Father has Life in Himself

The text is, “ὥσπερ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἔχει ζωὴν ἐν ἑαυτῷ, οὕτως καὶ τῷ υἱῷ ἔδωκεν ζωὴν ἔχειν ἐν ἑαυτῷ”.

“ὥσπερ”:  subordinating conjunction meaning “just as”.

“γὰρ”:  coordinating explanatory conjunction meaning “for”.

“ὁ”:  masculine, singular, nominative article meaning “the”.

“πατὴρ”:  masculine, singular, nominative noun meaning “Father”.

“ἔχει”:  third person, present, singular, active, indicative verb meaning “has”.

“ζωὴν”:  feminine, singular, accusative noun meaning “life”.

“ἐν”:  preposition taking the dative for its object word and meaning “in”.

“ἑαυτῷ”:  third person, masculine, singular, dative, reflexive pronoun meaning “himself”.

“οὕτως”:  demonstrative adverb meaning “in this way”.

“τῷ”:  masculine, singular, dative article meaning “on the”.

The meaning of this verse is,

For, just as the Father has life in himself, he bestowed life on  the son to hold in himself.
