Title:  Because of This the Father Loves Me

The text is, “Διὰ τοῦτό με ὁ πατὴρ ἀγαπᾷ ὅτι ἐγὼ τίθημι τὴν ψυχήν μου, ἵνα πάλιν λάβω αὐτήν”.

“Διὰ”:  preposition taking the accusative for its object word and meaning “because of”.

“τοῦτό”:  neuter, singular, accusative, demonstrative pronoun meaning “this”.

“με”:  first person, personal, singular, accusative pronoun meaning “me”.

“ὁ”:  masculine, singular, nominative article meaning “the”.

“πατὴρ”:  masculine, singular, nominative noun meaning “Father”.

“ἀγαπᾷ”:  third person, singular, present, active, indicative verb meaning “loves”.

“ὅτι”:  subordinating causative conjunction meaning “because”.

“ἐγὼ”:  first person, personal, singular, nominative pronoun meaning “I”.

The meaning of this verse is,

Because of this the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so that I again might take it up.”
