ὅτι πρῶτός μου ἦν (John 1:30.c)

“ὅτι” is a subordinating conjunction meaning “because”.

“πρῶτός” is a masculine, singular, nominative, ordinal adjective meaning “before”.  This word is not limited only to a temporal dimension, but relates to existence, importance, etc., as well.

“μου” is a first person, personal, singular, genitive pronoun meaning “me”.

“ἦν” is a third person, singular, imperfect, indicative verb meaning “he was”.

The sense of this clause is “because before me he was”.
