Ἐγένετο ἄνθρωπος (John 1:6.a)

The estimated reading time for this post is 17 seconds

“Ἐγένετο” is a third person, singular, aorist, middle voice, indicative verb, which says its action has been completed, but its effect remains without change, meaning “(there) was sent”.

“ἄνθρωπος” is a masculine, singular, nominative noun, making it the subject of this clause, and, as it has no accompanying article, means “a man”.  (This man will be identified most definitely.)
